What is a Grace Period and How to Use It?

* A grace period is the duration during which a credit card allows you to use borrowed funds without accruing interest, provided the conditions of the grace period are met. The grace period starts from the date of the first transaction made during the grace period and lasts for 100 days. For all subsequent transactions, the grace period ends on the expiration date from the date of the first transaction.
To take advantage of the grace period benefits on a credit card, you need to:
  • Make minimum monthly payments during the grace period, calculated as 4% of the used credit limit on the last calendar day of the month. The payment deadline is from the first calendar day until 6:00 PM on the last calendar day of the month following the month of the minimum payment calculation.
  • Pay off the entire debt within 100 days from the date of the first transaction during the grace period (the debt is considered paid if the card account is replenished with the amount of the debt as of the end of the previous day by 6:00 PM on the current day).
For example:
  • Purchase date: June 2 marks the start of the grace period, ending on September 10 (duration: 100 days).
  • The first monthly minimum payment will be calculated on June 30, followed by July 31 and August 31.
  • Payment deadlines for minimum monthly payments: by 6:00 PM on July 31 and by 6:00 PM on August 31. Late payment results in default, cancellation of the grace period, and interest accrual from the first day of the grace period (interest is charged on the outstanding balance at the end of each day).
  • Full repayment must be made by 6:00 PM on September 10. Late payment on the credit card cancels the grace period and interest accrues from the first day of the grace period.
