Raif supports the information campaign on combating payment frauds

Raiffeisen Bank Aval acts as the general partner of the All-Ukrainian information campaign on combating payment fraud.

The campaign has been initiated by the National Bank of Ukraine and is aimed at increasing the level of financial literacy of Ukrainian people, improving client safe behavior during use of bank payment cards and making online payments.

“Today Ukrainians lose most costs because of their gullibility and lack of knowledge when informing frauds about their financial data. The most vulnerable are young and older people, so as due to their inexperience they are often hooked. We regularly remind our clients about the rules of payment card use, and at every phase of our contacts with them we emphasize the necessity of confidentiality of payment card data”, stated Natalya Marchenko, Head of Executive Secretary and Communication at Raiffeisen Bank Aval. “We are always happy to join such projects, so as financial literacy is the key to the security and welfare of our clients  and other fellow countrymen”, she added.

During the quarantine period, Ukrainians increasingly began to choose non-cash payments and online purchases. The challenge for central and commercial banks was to protect people from fraud. In Ukraine, as in rest of the world, the most popular method of card fraud is social engineering - it is when people themselves transfer money or disclose their card details to scammers.

"For the first time in the history of Ukraine, the National Bank is organizing such a large-scale information campaign to combat payment fraud, which is supported by a wide range of like-minded people. More than 50 partners representing socially responsible business in various industries have expressed a desire to join the campaign. With the joint efforts of the National Bank, Cyberpolice, banks, payment systems, mobile operators, online stores, we will conduct an unprecedented information campaign - says Director of Communications of the National Bank Natalia Bondarenko, - We will talk about payment security rules on the radio, in newspapers and on information portals, in messengers and via SMS, in the metro, at railway stations and even in electricity bills. We try to use all possible channels of communication to reach the audience and protect citizens from criminal actions of fraudsters, and we are very grateful to the partners who supported the project and work with us to develop financial awareness. "

The campaign #ШахрайГудбай starts on 7 July and will last till end of August covering all the regions of Ukraine. There will be a series of measures taken and information products released within the framework of this campaign.  We will talk about simple security rules during use of bank cards, safety measures during use of smartphones, ways of counteraction to swindle and the like. Raiffeisen Bank Aval will participate in the development of a webinar, a Youtube educational project, social advertising on radio, TV and in the press.
