Raiffeisen Bank supports the renovation of the pediatric ward at the national cancer institute in partnership with the "Zaporuka" Foundation

Raiffeisen Bank continues to support children fighting for their lives. With financial assistance from the bank and its partners, the charitable foundation Zaporuka has completed another phase of renovations at the pediatric ward of the National Cancer Institute.

Every year, hundreds of children from all over Ukraine receive treatment at the Pediatric Oncology Department of the National Cancer Institute in Kyiv. Most young patients with newly diagnosed malignant tumors are treated here and receive highly qualified medical care. Treatment is provided free of charge, and the department consults with more than 3,500 children annually. The level of care meets the standards of leading European clinics.

In December 2024, the Zaporuka Foundation completed the first phase of the renovation—upgrading four patient rooms and a playroom. Today, we are pleased to share that the next phase is now complete.

The ward now features:

  • Three new patient rooms for children and their families, equipped with inclusive bathrooms;
  • A spacious room for sessions with psychologists;
  • A renovated main lobby with a library and play area;
  • A refurbished nurses’ station and treatment room."Cancer doesn’t wait. Children can’t pause their illness. They need help here and now. At Raiffeisen Bank, we believe that caring for one another is the new currency of our time. Our long-standing partnership with the Zaporuka Foundation proves that together, we can make meaningful changes for the future of our children — who are, after all, the future of our country," said Nataliya Hurina, Deputy Chair of the Management Board at Raiffeisen Bank.

Raiffeisen Bank has been supporting the Zaporuka Foundation for over 10 years, helping children undergoing complex treatment. Thanks to the renovated space, children will have more opportunities to recover — through physical activity, creativity, and simple joy, which is an essential part of the healing process.

"New rooms, a play area, and comfortable facilities help children feel not just like patients, but like children first and foremost. I truly believe that such an environment will give them strength on their way to recovery and a happy childhood," said Nataliya Onipko, President of the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation.

The design for the renovated space was developed by designers Daria Konopatska and Anastasiia Tolchynska, who carefully considered the needs of young patients and thoughtfully planned every detail.

Raiffeisen Bank remains committed to doing everything possible to ensure that every child feels seen, valued, and cared for. Every smile, every spark of curiosity, every excited "wow!" is the best proof that we are on the right path.
