Raiffeisen Bank opens Ukraine’s first underground branch in the Kharkiv Metro

Raiffeisen Bank has opened the first underground bank branch in Ukraine, located in the Kharkiv metro system.

The branch’s location directly within the metro will allow uninterrupted access to banking services during wartime — in a space where residents are accustomed to feeling safe.

In a city where air raid alerts last the longest in the country, maintaining access to banking services and establishing stable support points for both citizens and businesses is of utmost importance.

Previously, Raiffeisen Bank had set up underground service areas in its branches in Kharkiv, Dnipro, and two service zones in Sumy. This initiative not only protects clients and employees but also contributes to economic stability in the regions during wartime.

“The metro has long served as a shelter for Kharkiv residents. Now, it also becomes a place where people can safely access banking services. Expanding our initiative to open underground banking branches, and launching a full-service branch directly in the metro, is our response to the challenges of the times. Raiffeisen is adapting its operations to current realities so that clients can manage their financial matters even underground, in comfortable and secure conditions. This step supports financial stability in the region and gives Kharkiv residents the confidence to face any circumstances,” said Olha Kutsenko, Head of Retail Business for the Bank’s Eastern Region.

The new Raiffeisen underground branch will offer the full range of traditional banking services, including account openings, deposits, loans, customer consultations, and cash desk transactions, among others.

Branch address: 73M Heorhii Tarasenko Street, near “Sportyvna” metro station, Kharkiv.
