Raiffeisen Bank Supports Surgeries for 12 Defenders at Dobrobut

Raiffeisen Bank has transferred UAH 1,032,000 to support the “Ready for Prosthetics” program, launched and implemented by the Dobrobut medical network and Dobrobut Foundation with the Bank’s support. The funds will be used for reconstructive plastic surgeries for 12 defenders preparing for prosthetic fitting.

In Ukraine, more than 120,000 people have lost limbs as a result of the full-scale invasion. Most of them cannot receive prosthetics immediately: amputations caused by blast injuries often leave residual limbs with neuromas, osteophytes, and painful scar tissue. Without surgical correction, prosthetic fitting is either impossible or postponed indefinitely.

The “Ready for Prosthetics” program was created to address this challenge. A team of Dobrobut surgeons and traumatologists performs reconstructive surgeries after which patients can begin prosthetic fitting. In parallel, veterans receive psychological support at all stages of treatment. The surgeries are performed by trauma surgeon Oksana Myronenko, who has more than 20 years of experience in reconstructive traumatology.

More than half of this year’s patients will join the program through referrals from the “Angels of the Third Brigade” Patronage Service, which systematically supports military personnel. The service provides comprehensive assistance, including treatment, rehabilitation, prosthetics, and social support for wounded service members and their families, accompanying veterans at every stage — from evacuation to returning to active life.

“Prosthetics is a stage that requires proper preparation. Behind it lies a significant amount of work that often remains unseen. We launched this program because we understand that every person who has undergone amputation deserves for this journey to be as short as possible and free from unnecessary pain,” commented Oksana Shevchenko, Deputy Chair of the Management Board of Raiffeisen Bank.

In previous years, 17 patients received surgical care under the program. Overall, within the partnership with Dobrobut and Dobrobut Foundation, Raiffeisen Bank has provided more than UAH 4 million for medical assistance to wounded service members.

“The war creates not only challenges but also genuine partnerships capable of changing lives. The ‘Ready for Prosthetics’ program offers our defenders the opportunity to complete a critically important stage of treatment and return to active life. We sincerely thank Raiffeisen Bank for its trust and consistent support. Partnerships like this enable us to continue and scale up assistance,” said Dmytro Hrossu, Director of Dobrobut Foundation.

About the “Ready for Prosthetics” Program
The program covers the full preparation cycle: initial examination, determination of treatment scope, preoperative preparation, reconstructive surgery, medication support, rehabilitation sessions, and online follow-up with the treating physician. Participation is free of charge for patients.
