Office Trends: Clean Kitchen - Clean Planet

2020 is the year of minimalism in consumption and climate protection. Without washing dishes and disposable garbage - how Ukrainian offices become more resource-efficient and how to make money on it.

From the point of view of marketing and corporate culture, it is fashionable to be environmentally friendly today. Environmental slogans are important for generations Y and Z, and if your customers and employees are young people, they will appreciate it. In Europe, the trend “climate neutral office” even emerged - that is, one that minimally produces waste and a “carbon footprint”. So, taking care of the climate is to attract brand supporters from youth. And it’s not a shame to tell about our environmental responsibility on the website as an example of corporate social responsibility for the environment, especially if you work with markets concerned with the climate problems of the European Union: partners will appreciate it. The entrepreneur cannot but rejoice at saving water and electricity, reducing the cost of consumables for the operation of the office.

The cooler is not cool

A modern, climate-neutral office should not spend electricity on constant water heating. Therefore, we remove the cooler and disposable cups for it from the corporate kitchen. This is no longer a must-have. An electric kettle with a small volume of 1-1.5 liters with a low level of energy consumption is our option. In general, it is fashionable to make juices and smoothies at home and carry with you in your own thermos or glass bottle.

Paper - for recycling

Offering water or coffee in plastic cups today is a sign of bad taste and neglect of customers. However, very few people recycle paper utensils, so they become garbage if they themselves do not arrange for their disposal. For paper cups, it is worth ordering special containers-tubes for easy collection, and then, having accumulated a certain amount of them, you can send them to the Zeleniy Ptah processing company. In Kiev, an enterprise courier can pick them up himself, which costs 350 UAH / bag. And the most profitable in terms of logistics to order such glasses from the processor. “The service“ Paper cup in a circle ”means that you select cups, we deliver orders of at least 3,000 units, you use them, and when they are finished, we deliver new ones and pick up used ones. Branding is also affordable, ”explains company founder Victoria Norenko. By the way, higher ecological aerobatics here is also to order branded notebooks made of recycled paper for staff.

Eco dishes

In order not to think about recycling plastic or cardboard, pay attention to disposable dishes made from biodegradable materials: corn, starch, algae, agar-agar. Thrown into the trash, it decomposes in 30-60 days. Food in such utensils (a plate or container) can be heated in the oven or microwave. Ecological dishes are imported from abroad, although some Ukrainian companies are also trying to make them. Eco-dishes PickNick Organic http://www.picknick-organic.com.ua (Odessa) is produced from natural wheat bran. It can even be eaten if desired or discarded somewhere in nature, where it will become bird food. The cost of such a plate is from 16 UAH. So much are, for example, Polish plates. They considered that 10 thousand plates can be made from one ton of bran, the energy cost of producing 1 kg of dishes is only 1.3 kg of CO2, while 8.5 kg of CO2 are emitted during the production of plastic disposable dishes. Biodegradable cookware made from corn starch of Iranian production Amelon is cheaper, but it is impossible to eat: it contains 30% polypropylene. Turkish biodegradable sugar cane lunch containers with a lid will cost from 7 UAH.

Pure lunch

And bold companies can do without utensils at all, surprising partners and office clients. For example, in Kiev, Lviv, Kharkov, Dnipro, you can order catering from companies that serve vegetarian and vegan food in edible glasses. Cream soups, salads, desserts in a bread or waffle cup are both food and utensils. In it, you can order falafel, burgers, desserts, healthy sweets for office supplies. No expenses of water, detergents, time, no need to take out heaps of disposable tableware - saving. “Our regular guests are creative youth, entrepreneurs, office workers, schoolchildren and youth, vegetarians,” says the founder of Supkultury Kirill Puzenko. Abroad, some cafes offer edible cups of cookies and waffles for coffee and cocoa. In Ukraine, this niche is free. Therefore, we are looking for other options to get rid of disposable cups.

Into your cup

A pile of dirty cups in the sink or cups near the coffee machine and in the basket - Ukrainian companies in large cities get rid of this sight not only for environmental reasons. Firstly, employees do not pollute the planet and do not overfill the corporate garbage container, and secondly, do not buy disposable tableware. To start this habit, find a stakeholder among young people or become one. Present corporate branded bottles or thermal cups to employees as a sign of concern for their health. Some start a photo contest in the corporate Instagram # assimilating or organize a lecture on the environmental dangers of plastic.
