Raiffeisen Bank has become a partner in the #ShakhraiGoodbye payment security campaign

Raiffeisen Bank has joined the latest wave of the nationwide payment security awareness campaign — #ShakhraiGoodbye — as an information partner.

The campaign is being conducted by the National Bank of Ukraine in collaboration with the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.

Its goal is to raise public awareness and remind citizens of the basic security rules for cashless payments, especially on the internet.

According to the NBU, in 2025, the number of illegal activities and fraudulent transactions involving payment cards that resulted in losses decreased by 13.3 transactions (a 5% reduction vs 2024)  — down to 256,000 transactions. However, the amount of losses from such transactions increased by nearly a quarter — up to UAH 1.4 billion.

This indicates that, despite the decrease in the number of cases, the scale of losses from fraud is growing. Therefore, the topic of payment security remains relevant and requires systematic outreach efforts.

Social engineering remains the most common method of payment card fraud in Ukraine, as in the rest of the world. That is, when customers voluntarily disclose personal data, payment card details, login credentials and passwords for mobile and online banking applications, verification codes, and passwords for conducting payment transactions or logging into a payment application.

That is why understanding the basic rules of payment security helps people use cashless payments more cautiously and avoid fraudulent schemes in the digital space.

During the campaign, the National Bank of Ukraine, together with Raiffeisen Bank and around 80 other partners, will focus efforts on explaining the key elements of payment security to consumers of financial services, particularly regarding the following topics:

  • how to protect oneself from fraud disguised as government services;
  • how to check websites and chatbots where users enter their payment details;
  • how to shop safely online;
  • how to protect your financial phone number;
  • how to avoid the most common fraudulent schemes;
  • how to avoid unwittingly becoming an accomplice to a crime and falling into the trap of fraudsters when looking for a job.

The outreach and awareness campaign will run from 13 May until the end of 2026 across all regions of Ukraine.

Among other measures, all useful information will also be compiled on a special webpage for the #ShakhraiGoodbye campaign.
